An easily navigated site covering the prehistoric through contemporary historical periods of Korea. Each section is illustrated with art, artifacts, and text fragments appropriate to the time. INDIA TITLE: INDIAN HISTORY URL: http://www.meadev.gov.in/culture/history/intro.htm This site traces the roots of Indian civilization and includes the entry of the Aryans, the Muslim invasions and the coming of the Europeans. The section on the Muslim invasions, for example, takes a brief look at the Delhi Sultanate, the impact of Islam, Kabir and Nanak, and the great Mughals. The site is useful for beginners who wish to learn about some of the dates, places and important figures in Thailand beginning with the Nanchao Period. The documents begin with the Geneva Peace Accords of July, 1954 and end with the Paris Accords of January, 1973. SINGAPORE TITLE: SINGAPORE HISTORY URL: http://asnic.utexas.edu/asnic/countries/singapore/Singapore-History.html A chapter from the book “Singapore, 1994.” The major virtue of this page is the extensive bibliography of books about the history of Singapore, with several about the history of the Chinese in Singapore. SOUTH ASIA TITLE: HARAPPA URL: http://www.harappa.com/ A multimedia look at the Indus Valley and the Raj with a total of 1,104 pages. There are sound clips of Gandhi, Nehru and others. There is a 90-slide tour around the ancient Indus civilization accompanied by text. In addition to 130 photos accessed via a clickable map, there are postcards, lithographs and engravings. A “wall” of movies includes clips of Gandhi in Italy and Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder, in 1941.
